It was a vacation area for many years with cottages on both Aurora Lake and Geauga Lake, there was horseracing nearby, a few speakeasys
During the depression some families were forced from their larger homes in the Cleveland area and lived year round at their former cottages.
It was a seperate community for many years, the neighborhood contained the Geauga Lake amusement park.
The picnic grove was established in the 1880's with several amuements such as a bowling alley, photo studio and the Kent House Hotel
in the 1920's the Geauga Lake Park opened across the lake from the picnic grove.
