February 15th (Thursday)    “A Chat With General George Washington”  

In honor of President’s Day, Dale Fellows from “We Made History” will take us back to the 18th Century sharing the events that prepared him to be the first President of the United States. Unconcerned about popularity ratings Dale will also relate Washington’s take on the nation’s current political situation.

April 19th (Thursday)   “A Night at the Museum”

A children oriented program featuring the viewing of “Ben & Me.” Can one little mouse change the course of history? Yes, for now it can be told: Benjamin Franklin may never have become the great man he was without the help of one Amos Mouse! Amos reveals how man and mouse first met and how this accidental encounter grew into a lifetime friendship. Together, they created new and exciting inventions, each one an adventure of its own. As American as the 4th of July, Ben and Me is a funny, witty and whimsical delight for any season! In addition to the video, children will learn about the early history of Aurora focusing on the events that they have learned at school.

May 17th (Thursday)   “Saluting Aurora Military Veterans”

Focusing of those brave Aurora boys who fought in WWI, the program will also honor Aurora’s veterans of all of the country’s conflicts. Military uniforms and items will be on display in the museum.

July 4th (Wednesday)  “Celebrating the Nation’s Birthday”

Join the community of Aurora in celebrating the country’s 242nd birthdate as the Aurora Historical Society will have a float in the parade. Visit the Society’s booth at Kiwanis Moore Park and also visit the Deed House where children can play games that were popular among the children during the 18th Century.

July 10th (Wednesday)  “AHS Annual Picnic”

Join the AHS at the Moebius Nature center for an afternoon of fellowship and good food.

September 20th (Thursday)   “What’s in Your Attic”

Search your attic or basement for that precious item from your family’s past, dust it off be prepared to share your memories with others.

November 15th (Thursday)   “Celebrating 50 Years of Preserving Aurora’s History”

Join the members of the Aurora Historical Society in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of preserving Aurora’s history.

December (Date TBD)   “Christmas at the Deed House”

Santa and Mrs. Claus and his elves will be at the Deed House to greet youngsters of all ages! Enjoy and evening of Holiday activities and refreshments.
